Jean-Rémi Thibault

I am one of the founding partners and the co-president of Litige Forseti Inc.

With 31 years of experience, I practise mainly in civil and commercial litigation, especially in the fields of construction and real estate.

I have been a member of the Barreau du Québec since November 1990, after I completed my studies at Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Law in 1989.

I am involved in the Canadian Bar Association, specifically in the Construction and Alternative Dispute Resolution sections. I am a member of the Institut de médiation et d’arbitrage du Québec (IMAQ), with which I am accredited as an arbitrator.

I was a member of the Barreau du Québec’s accounts arbitration committee from 2014 to 2021 and have been a member of the Barreau du Québec’s Disciplinary Council since 2008.

I advise and represent various clients from the business world (SMEs, entrepreneurs, subcontractors, suppliers, developers, various professionals, building managers, condominium corporations, landlords, tenants, administrators and shareholders) before all civil courts in Quebec as well as in mediation and arbitration.

Representative mandates

• I successfully represented our clients’ interests before the Supreme Court in Ponce v. Société d’investissements Rhéaume ltée, 2023 SCC 25.
• I have achieved winning results in highly complex cases with significant monetary stakes by offering my clients a wide range of practical solutions that meet the specific needs of their situation, both in court and in arbitration.
